Get an account and/or a blog on

1.  Go to (no www)

2. Fill out the form requirement for each area.

a. Choose your username carefully. You can not change it once you sign in.

b. The server will only accept a email. You will receive your confirm e-mail at the address you provide.

c. Select Gimme a blog if you want a blog with your account. Otherwise, select Just a username, please. Go to next.

3. Fill out this form. The fields in this form can be changed later.

When you click  Signup, the blog or the account is yours.

4. You will get a page to tell you that you have this blog. A confirmation e-mail will be sent to you . Click on the link in the e-mail to confirm and activate your blog.

5. The sending email address should be

Please check your spam email or Junk email list if you don’t receive the confirm e-mail. It probably is blocked because this e-mail contains embedded  links. The email will tell you:

6. After you activate your blog, you will see page asking you to assign a password for your username.

Set up your blog

After you log in, you will come to the Dashboard screen where you can set up, configure and monitor your blog.

1. Set up for Users

User information and password changing:

a.After you have a new blog, set up your personal information and change your password. Click Users in the top of the right side, you will see the page allows you to manage your users like this:

b.Click Your Profile to set up your information.
c.Go all the way to the bottom; you can change your password there. Just input your new password. You can use upper and lower case letters (case sensitive) and numbers.

d.Don’t forget to click Update Profile button after you done.

2. Set up for Plugins . Note, plugins are small services or holders of images or text that are available on every page of your blog.

a.Click the Plugins at the top near Users. You will see a list of plugins the server provides for you. You can activate any plugins you would like to use by clicking Activate in the right side.

b.For each new blog, you should activate three basic plugins in the very beginning: WP-SpamFree, wpPHPMailer and WP Security Scan.

c.The WP Security Scan and WP-SpamFree start functioning after you active them. wpPHPMailer is for the E-mail function for your blog. We will talk about it later in another section: How to use Email?

3.Set up for Settings

Set up basic sittings for your blog:

Select Settings on the top of right side. There are many tabs that you can set up for the settings. We only cover the basic setups in two tabs: ? General and ? Reading

a. In General tab setup, fill out the Blog title and Tagline title, which is the subtitle for your blog. Don’t forget save your changes by press the Save Changes button

b. In the Reading tab setup, select Your latest posts if you want your blog display the posts as the homepage. Otherwise, select A static page (select below) if you want your blog display a page as your homepage. Press Save changes button to save your changes.

Now you have the basic setup for your blog. You can start bloging.

Select a theme for your blog

  1. A “theme” is a layout template for your blog pages. It not only determines text fonts and images but also the number of frames on your page but also what plug-ins can go int which frames.  So, it not only affects the look of your page but also its content organization. When you look at the possible themes you can use, look for organizational issues as well as overall appearance.

  2. In the Dashboard, select Design in the top tab. Under Themes, you will see a set of themes that server provides for you. Your default theme is highlighted but you can also view  all of theother available themes.  Note: Themes that are available under commerical WordPress may not be available in Maag’s WordPress implementation.

  3. Clink the title or the screen shot of the theme you want to use for your blog.

  4. The system demonstrates how your blog will look using the selected theme. Please click Activate ‘Your theme name’ at the right side of the top to activate this theme for you or, click on another theme until you have the best fit for your blog and then click Activate.

  5. You will be brought back the Dashboard. The current theme is the new one you’ve just selected. To see how it looks in production, click on view site.

Set up email function for your blog

Email service is one of the very important functions in your blog service. The Maagblog server will NOT automatically send e-mail. You must activate that feature.

You can set up your blog to send an email when a new user registers to your blog or when someone makes a comment. The following instructions explain how to set up an e-mail service function in the blog server.

  1. Under Settings select wpPHPMailer. You will see the set up page for activating e-mail function.

  2. In Option 1: Select SMTP via wpPHPMailer

  3. In Option 2: SMTP mail server: and port number 25 . For security reasons, you only can use the mail server for the blog service. To get an e-mail account from, contact the Maagblog administrator (Shelly Zhu).

  4. In Option 3: SMTP Server requires authentication? Select Yes.

  5. In Option 4: SMTP mail user name: use your address:

  6. In Option 5: Input your password.

  7. Don’t change options 6 and 7.

  8. In Option 8: Hardcoded From e-mail, Fill in your email address.

  9. In Option 9: Hardcoded From name, fill in the name you want show in the email.

  10. Click Save changes to save it. Your mail service is now activated.

Add users into your blog

  1. Log in to your blog and at the Dashboard, select Users on the top right corner. You will then see a screen displaying the information about users in two fields on the left side: Authors & Users and Your Profile .

  2. Select Authors & Users, you can see all the users for this blog. You also can add some new users. New users, however, must already have accounts or blogs in Maagblog.

3. To add a new user to your blog, go to the bottom of the page, you will be asked information of the user you want to add. Please use the e-mail address of a user registered in blog server. Select the role for this user.

4. To complete the process of adding a user, click Add User.

Transfer your information from another WordPress blog

If you want to transfer your blog information from another WordPress blog (source blog) to your new WordPress blog (target blog),  do the following:

1. In your source blog (where your blog currently resides), go to Manage and select Export. You will see the instructions on how to download the export file. Please press the button at the bottom Download Export File

2. You are asked to either save the file on your computer or open it in XML editor. Please save the file to your computer. Remember the file name and where you saved it. Your will need this file soon.

3. In your target blog (where you want the blog to now reside), go to Manage and select Import. You will see a list of blog services. Go all the way down to the bottom, select WordPress.

4. You will be asked to import blog file. Browse the file you saved in step 2, and import it by clicking the  Upload file and import button.

5. You will see a list of files imported into your new blog from the source blog. Press the Submit button and the files will be placed into your new blog.

Transfer another blog into a Maag WordPress blog

If you have a blog in another blog server, such as Blogger, Blogware, LiveJournal…, and you want to transfer that blog’s content to your Maag WordPress blog, you must do this from within the Maag WordPress software. Log in to your Maag WordPress account and in the Dashboard screen , do the following:

1. Under the tab “Manage” select “Import”. You will see a list of blog common blog service names. If your service is listed, choose the service from which you wish to import a blog. In the rare case that your service is not listed, contact the Maagblog administrator.

2. In this example, we use Blogger as the source blog. Select Blogger, you will see a page to ask you Authorize. Click it.

3. The WordPress blog server will access your Blogger first. Click Grant access, and give your email address that you use for accessing your blog in Blogger.

4. Your WordPress blog will display your blog in Blogger.   Press the  Import button and all of the information in your Blogger blog will be imported to your new WordPress blog.
