Comment Icon0 Use the databases listed below to search for articles and business information. While these databases provide a good starting point for your research, other databases are also available. To view the complete list of databases, go to the Maag Library Home Page and click on Research Databases on the left side of the screen under Quick Links.

Comment Icon0 Many articles may be found full-text within the databases, while others may be found in print in the bound journals on the sixth floor of the library. If you are having trouble locating the full text of an article, check Maag Journal Finder to view all print & electronic holdings for the journal. If MJF does not lead you to full text access of the article (print or electronic) use the Online Article Request Form to order the article electronically. InterLibrary Loan can locate most articles and will email you with a PDF attachment. This process takes approximately one week.

Authentication to an OhioLINK database requires you to:

  • Select your institution (Youngstown State University) then click on Submit.
  • Enter your last name followed by first name.
  • Enter your YSU ID# (number beginning with “Y” found on your YSU ID or in your portal account).
  • Enter your PASSWORD. **Until you set up a unique one in Your Library Record your YSU ID# is your password**
  • Click on Submit
  • Databases purchased individually by Maag Library require YSU username & password (same as YSU email).

    Offers students and adults unlimited, 24/7 access to targeted skill-building interactive courses in math, reading, and writing, as well as hundreds of online interactive practice tests that prepare them for several types of exams including grade school achievement tests, the SAT, GED, U.S. Citizenship, and civil service positions. Complete answer explanations accompany each response so that patrons understand why a particular answer is correct or incorrect.All practice tests include instant diagnostic score reports that help patrons to target those skill areas that need the most attention. To help students master the SAT and recently added essay, instant score reports provide immediate feedback on how well they performed in each of five writing skill areas. To take a test at Learning Express Library, you first set up your own individual account. If you are off-campus, first use OhioLINK remote authentication proxy URL (or your institution’s off-campus access method) to connect to LearningExpress, and then log into LearningExpress with your individual account
    >>After entering Learning Express Library, you will see a list of Learning Centers on the left side of the screen. Click on Workplace Skills Improvement, after which you will see Business Writing as one of the choices. When you click on Business Writing it will expand into various choices: Business Writing Courses; Business Writing Guides; Grammar Practice; Grammar Skills for Writing Courses; Vocabulary and Spelling Courses; Vocabulary and Spelling Practice. Each of these categories further expand into specific courses.

      This program stresses that good writing skills are critical to job success and that employers seek job applicants who have these skills. Gain valuable skills for future succeeds while acquiring the ability and confidence to put thoughts in writing.

    JSTOR HELP & TRAINING
    Not-for-profit organization with a dual mission to create and maintain a trusted archive of important scholarly journals, and to provide access to these journals as widely as possible. JSTOR offers researchers the ability to retrieve high-resolution, scanned images of journal issues and pages as they were originally designed, printed, and illustrated. The journals archived in JSTOR span many disciplines.
    JSTOR is not a current issues database. Because of JSTOR’s archival mission, there is a gap, typically from 1 to 5 years, between the most recently published journal issue and the back issues available in JSTOR.

Use Maag Journal Finder to locate the print and/or electronic holdings of journals. You can search for a specific journal title or browse journals by title or subject. This is the best way to locate an article if you already have the citation!
