Change to “Off-Campus Access”
There is a change to how YSU Faculty, Staff and Students access Maag electronic databases from home. As in the past, you start at the Maag Library Home Page ( http://www.maag.ysu.edu ) and under “Quick Links” on the left, you will still click on “Off-campus Access”. However, you will now be asked for your standard YSU Network Access User Name and Password. This is also known as your MyYSU name and password. Most often, the Name is your initials followed by your last name.
Maag has moved to this log-on to standardize with many other YSU Network log-on required functions.
If you use Off-Campus Access to go to OhioLINK, you will still be asked for your name and library barcode number. We will work to standardize and eliminate this step as soon as possible.
Tim Seman Says:
Is this yet another denial of access for Alumni and Maag Friends? I am both and have, until now, been able to access JSTOR from off-site. Why this change?

With respect to Alumni and Friends, the policy has always been that licensed databases are available only to current faculty, staff and students. Our licenses to those databases limit us to those user groups or to users of the library when they are ON SITE. The switch does help us enforce those rules.

As I understand this switch, then, Maag Library is merely bringing its services in line with policies and licenses. Understood. And how are we to understand the recent transition to in-house, Maag computer terminals whereby non-student access is now limited to one password-required work station near the reference desk? I see a pattern.
