Business Databases: Finding Articles

Use the databases listed below to search for articles and business information. While these databases provide a good starting point for your research, other databases are also available. To view the complete list of databases, go to the Maag Library Home Page and click on Research Databases on the left side of the screen under Quick Links.

Many articles may be found full-text within the databases, while many others may be found in print in the bound journals on the sixth floor of the library. If you’re having trouble locating the full-text of an article, contact Christine (contact information above left).

Click on the database titles below if you are in the library or on campus. If you are off campus, click on the Off Campus Access link to authenticate using the library barcode on the back of your YSU ID. Click HERE for more information about Off Campus Access.

    Business Source Complete is a scholarly business database, providing bibliographic and full text content. BSC provides full text journals in all disciplines of business, including marketing, management, MIS, POM (Production & Operations Management), accounting, finance and economics. Additional full text, nonjournal content includes financial data, books, monographs, major reference works, book digests, conference proceedings, case studies, investment research reports, industry profiles, market research reports, product reviews, country reports, company profiles, SWOT analyses and more.

    Academic Search Complete, designed specifically for academic institutions, is the world’s most comprehensive scholarly, multi-disciplinary full-text database, with more than 5,300 full-text periodicals, including 4,400 peer-reviewed journals. In addition to full text, this database offers indexing and abstracts for more than 9,300 journals and a total of 10,900 publications including monographs, reports, conference proceedings, etc.

    Electronic Journal Center includes the full text of more than 7000 online research journals covering many subject areas. Most electronic indexes available to the Ohio academic community link from article citations to the full text in the EJC.
  • ECONLIT / OFF CAMPUS ACCESS / ABOUT ECONLIT
    EconLit, the American Economic Association’s electronic database, is the world’s foremost source of references to economic literature. The database contains more than 785,000 records from 1969-present. EconLit covers virtually every area related to economics.
  • PAIS INTERNATIONAL / ABOUT PAIS INTERNATIONAL
    PAIS International is an index to the literature of public affairs — current issues and actions which affect the world communities, countries, people, and governments. This database covers important political, economic, and social issues. PAIS concentrates on topics that are or might become the subject of legislation. It contains references to journal articles, books, government documents, statistical directories, grey literature, research reports, conference reports, publications of international agencies, microfiche, Internet material, and more.
  • COMMUNICATION & MASS MEDIA COMPLETE / OFF CAMPUS ACCESS / ABOUT COMM & MASS MEDIA
    Comminication & Mass media Complete incorporates CommSearch (formerly produced by the National Communication Association) and Mass Media Articles Index (formerly produced by Penn State) along with numerous other journals to create a research and reference resource in the communication and mass media fields. CMMC offers cover-to-cover indexing and abstracts for over 300 journals, and selected coverage of over 100 more, for a combined coverage of over 400 titles. Furthermore, this database includes full text for nearly 200 journals. Many major journals have indexing, abstracts, PDFs and searchable citations from their first issues to the present (dating as far back as 1915). CMMC contains a sophisticated controlled vocabulary and comprehensive reference browsing.

    Regional Business News is a collection of full text newswires that incorporates news information from all over the world. Information provided by these sources covers business, political, economic and other diverse, international news events. In order to maintain the most current collection of news, this database contains the most recent 30 days of information from each of these wire sources.
  • LEXISNEXIS ACADEMIC / OFF CAMPUS ACCESS / LEXISNEXIS ACADEMIC TUTORIALS
    LexisNexis Academic provides access to a wide range of news, business, legal, medical, and reference information from nearly 7,000 sources, most of them available in full text. The service covers newspapers, magazines, wire services, federal and state court opinions, federal and state statutes, federal regulations, and SEC filings. News information is updated daily and wire services several times daily.

Enter source title in blue “Find a Source” box on right side of screen and click on Go. Select source you want to search and click on OK-Continue. Enter search terms in box and click on Search.

  • NEWSBANK NEWSFILE COLLECTION Remote Access Not Available
    Newbank Newsfile Collection contains the electronic editions of record for valuable local, regional, and national U.S. newspapers. Each paper provides unique coverage of local and regional news, including companies, politics, sports, industries, cultural activities, and people in the community. Paid ads are excluded. Also includes the ability to search America’s News Magazines.

MJF: Maag Journal Finder

Use MJF: Maag Journal Finder to locate the print and/or electronic holdings of journals. You can search for a specific journal title or browse journals by title or subject. This is the best way to locate an article if you already have the citation! From the Maag Library Home Page, click on MJF: Maag Journal Finder on the left side of the screen under Quick Links.
